A guide to content:<\/span><\/strong> Semiotics serves as the foundation of much of my work. I understand semiotics as the study of the creation and communication of meaning used by individuals and communities in rationalizing and engaging with the world around them, using signs and symbols. The semiotic lens is then applied generally to the structures of cognition for humans and their social relations. More specifically, often my \u201cwork focuses on the issues and complexities that are emerging around economic (and now social and political) globalization, especially since the start of this century).\u00a0 Globalization does not fall neatly into one or another of the fields into which legal or social science academic research usually nicely fits. Neither does my work. Those who seek to fit it within academic categories developed for a passing age (but one still much loved) are bound to be disappointed. . . In this new era, as new orthodoxies emerge, there is a short period of time when nonconformity to past orthodox principles might not suggest disorderliness or a failure of careful planning but rather might point to a necessary evolution of thinking.\u201d This is such a time.
